Discover Tension & Trauma Release Exercises®, and Therapeutic Drumming  self-healing practices that can help you find effective relief from stress or trauma related symptoms, and open you up to living a life of improved physical and mental health, personal knowing and enhanced productivity.

These approaches are natural, safe and effective and cater for individuals and professionals who are interested in using wellness methods rather than pharmaceutical cure. They can relieve chronic muscular tension, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, tension headaches, chronic pain, depression, lower back pain, sleep difficulties and more. This is because TRE® and Therapeutic Drumming can rewire the brain, form new neural pathways and regulate the autonomic nervous system responsible for returning the body and mind back to a calm, balanced, grounded and relaxed state.

"TRE®   has liberated me from a lifetime of chronic stress and anxiety!!! No medication or any other therapies have proven so effective or been so simple to implement and integrate into my life! My life has opened up to unimaginable possibilities and I am forever grateful to Metka for her guidance and support in the process of learning the techniques of TRE®."

Stress can cause or exacerbate many serious health problems, including: depression, anxiety, personality disorders, heart disease, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, heart attacks, stroke, insomnia, lower back pain, tension headaches, gastro intestinal issues, chronic pain,  and more.

The good news is that the body has an inherent, self-restorative mechanism, neurogenic tremors that release the accumulation of stress, tension and trauma and restore the body back to a calm and balanced state.

Tension & Trauma Release Exercises

Intro Workshop

"Trauma is actually NOT the story of what happened a long time ago; trauma is the residue that’s living inside of you now; trauma lives inside of you in horrible sensations, panic reactions, uptightness, explosions, pain and impulses. Because trauma lives inside of you, getting to know yourself can be the scariest thing to do. It takes an enormous amount of courage to visit and befriend yourself and to feel what that uptightness is about. Having the courage to let yourself relax and to notice the flow of your body is central for recovery."

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk

Drumming rhythms tap into layers of the mind and body that other modalities cannot. Medical research has shown that repetitive drumming changes brain wave activity, inducing a state of calm, and focused awareness. It awakens dormant emotions and unexplainable feelings of joy, excitement, peace, and ecstasy. It can elevate mood, decrease anxiety, release stress and tension, reverses the ravages of stress at the cellular level, boosts the immune system, controls chronic pain, benefits mental & physical health... read more here.

""Now is the time to nurture your body and empower your mind, so you can take charge of your health and wellbeing. Whether it is to self-release stress and tension, recover from trauma and anxiety, or to start on a new journey, my aim is to support you and to arm you with tools and skills you can use to co-create desired change."

Warm welcome to my web site

My aim is to support clients, as well as myself, on the journey to a healthy, balanced, productive and fulfilled life. Prior to qualifying as a life coach and a Trauma Release Exercise® provider, I was the owner of a successful model agency in Cape Town for ten years, but after my children were born my priorities changed and I no longer found fulfilment working in the industry.

As a trauma survivor, I have always held an interest in psychology. I was curious to gain deeper understanding of the human nature, and most importantly, to gain knowledge, understanding and self-awareness that would highlight areas in my own life that required healing. I have initially embarked on this journey for myself, however, I have discovered my true passion through the process and now feel honoured assisting others on their journey to change, inner presence, calm, flow and wellbeing.

I am a trained Life Coach ( Dip. SACAP - South African College of Applied Psychology ), Life Line trained counsellor, Internationally accredited Trauma Release Provider, and TRE® mentor. I've also participated in a two year Advanced Facilitation Training Program, from Process Oriented Psychology's perspective, facilitated by Dr Stephen Schuitevoerder, the president and a faculty member of the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon. I am in private practice, but also facilitate TRE® workshops at Ixande - addiction treatment and recovery centre.

I am committed to life long learning, on-going personal growth and continuous professional development. For any further query or to make an appointment send me an e-mail here and I will be honoured to assist you.

"When going through a difficult divorce I started having regular headaches and didn't sleep well. Metka helped me learn how to use my own body to release stress, to identify mental triggers which made my situation worse and to implement new coping strategies to minimize the effect of divorce on my health and well-being. Not only did my headaches stopped and I started sleeping well, but I have also managed to stay calm, collected and focused throughout the divorce process which had positive results for me in the end."

"The skyrocketing use of alternative or complementary medicine represents a growing dissatisfaction with conventional healthcare. Conventional medical doctors, focus upon defining disease based on measurable symptoms and eliminating those signs; alternative therapists treat the whole person-body, mind, and spirit--with the focus on staying balanced and well."
