Release Heal Renew program has been designed to help you learn how to use Tension & Trauma Release Exercises(TRE®) for yourself in a safe and effective manner. The main aim is to teach you how to self-regulate the tremoring experience, while the body is letting go of the unconsciously held stress, muscle tension, and past trauma. That way you will be able to safely use TRE® to relieve stress related symptoms, accelerate physical and emotional healing, boost the immune system, and improve flexibility and mobility for all sport related activities; yoga, pilates, running, cycling, swimming etc. You will also learn how to use TRE® as a meditation method that cultivates compassion, acceptance, forgiveness and inner sense of peace. 

During the course you will:


Gain better understanding of the neurobiology of stress, anxiety and trauma and how it gets trapped in the brain, body and it's nervous system.

Understand as to why memory, talk therapy, oe even medication may not be necessary to heal from stress, tension, anxiety and trauma.

Learn how to safely practice Tension & Trauma Release Exercises to self-release stress, tension and traumas and to calm the nervous system.

Learn how to relieve anxiety and stress in the body by modulating the Vagus nerve.

Learn how to self-regulate the release of trapped experiences and emotions during the deepening of the TRE process.

It is important to note that this is NOT a talk therapy retreat or a quick fix program. The aim is to teach you TRE and to introduce you to self-help tools and skills that can be used right away and long term, so you can better manage symptoms of the unresolved, frozen and unspoken part of tension and trauma trapped in your body.



Release Heal Renew Retreat will be held in Constantia and will be facilitated by Metka Zurman a life coach, Advanced Tension & Trauma Release Exercise® Provider, TRE® Mentor and Retreats Facilitator.

Tension & Trauma Release Exercises® Urban Retreat | 30th - 31st May |  9:00 - 17:30 

Learn innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, chronic tension and past trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, TRE® safely activates a natural and inherent reflex mechanism in the body of shaking/tremoring ( neurogenic tremors ) that is gentle, safe and generally feels pleasant and soothing. Neurogenic tremors generate in the pelvic area of the Psoas muscles and reverberate outward along the spine, releasing the accumulation of muscular tension generated during intense exercise, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, difficult life circumstances or past traumatic life experiences. These natural, safe and organic tremors turn off the stress response, trigger the relaxation response, and return the body to its natural state of rest - so it can do what it does best - restore and heal itself. After a TRE® session, most people report feelings of calm and deep relaxation. 


TRE® method is thought as a self-administered process that can relieve chronic muscle tension, unexplained aches and pains, insomnia, stomach pains, irritability, anxiety, anger, lack of concentration, tension headaches and various other, stress or trauma related symptoms. .

Therapeutic rhythm techniques have been used for thousands of years by shamans of Mongolia to the Minianka healers of West Africa, to create and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health, and the current medical research is now strongly verifying what they have known for years - that ancient rhythm techniques tap into the layers of the body and mind that other modalities cannot. 


During this one day retreat we will come together to learn how to play simple therapeutic rhythms on West African Djembe that can release stress and unblock stuck energy, create clarity and flow in the body and cultivate joy, calm and wellbeing. We will gather as a women tribe drawn to experimenting with natural and ancient resources that accelerate health from deep within and connect us to the collective energy, inner vitality, emotion, pain, exhilaration, hope, sensitivity, giving, sharing and unity, so that we can begin to trust, let go, release, heal and become whole again.

No experience required. Drums will be provided. Suitable for women interested in strengthening physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. For those who think they have no musical ability or sense of rhythm, if you have a heart beat you have rhythm. Everyone will be able to play with ease.
